Soft washing vs pressure washing — and why it matters
Pressure washing a house wall sounds efficient, but it's how you end up with stripped paint, blown-out render joints, water forced behind cladding, and lifted timber grain. Soft washing flips the equation: instead of relying on brute force, it uses a carefully formulated low-pressure cleaning solution that dwells on the surface, breaks down algae, mildew, spider webs, dust and airborne pollen at a chemical level, and then rinses away cleanly with a gentle flow. The result is a whole-house clean that reaches into porous render and textured Colorbond without damaging paint film, sealants or joints. It's the industry-standard method for painted exteriors.
Every exterior surface, safely handled
We wash the full external envelope: rendered walls, painted brick, face brick, weatherboards and fibre-cement cladding, Colorbond and metal cladding, eaves and soffits, downpipes, window frames and sills, external doors, garage doors, and the fronts of gutters and fascia. Different surfaces need different chemistry ratios and rinse pressures, and we adjust as we work around the property. Delicate detailing like leadlight windows, painted timber trim and heritage features are worked slowly and by hand where needed. Nothing gets a one-size-fits-all treatment.
Prep, plants and property protection
Soft washing is as much about what happens around the walls as on them. Before we start, garden beds and lawns immediately below cleaning zones are pre-wet so any run-off is diluted on contact. Sensitive planting, ponds and vegetable patches are covered or masked. Windows are checked closed, and external power points are protected. Once the solution has done its work we rinse from the top down, then walk the perimeter to catch missed spots, splashes on windows and any patches that want a second pass. You're left with a house that looks freshly maintained and a garden that hasn't been sacrificed to get there.
